The Artist
Born and raised in Accra, Ghana, Michael Agyekum Fiscian trained at the School of Fine Arts, Ghanatta College of Art and Design. His practice sits at the intersection of portraiture, figuration, and social commentary — painting voices that society too often overlooks.
Inspired by his grandmother's entrepreneurial spirit — who relied on selling Graphic newspapers for her livelihood — Michael incorporates those newspapers into his art alongside acrylic paint, amplifying the voices of young Black women in African society and beyond.
His debut solo exhibition, "You Are Who You Say You Are", explores self-definition, identity, and resistance to imposed labels.
